Default Won't start after code check

I've got a really strange issue with my '02 Ram 4.7.
Yesterday the check engine light came on, so I did a key check on the P code. It indicated a misfire on cylinder 1. No problem so far. While I did the check the truck rolled forward down the driveway a foot or so, again no funny noise or anything that would raise an issue.
Fast forward to this morning. I get in the truck, go to start it and when I turn the key I get a loud clunk from the area around the transmission. The engine doesn't turn over.
After discussing with a mechanic buddy of mine I put a wrench on the crankshaft nut and check that it's not frozen. It turns ok.
After doing this backwards, I tried to start it again and the engine turns over about as much as I moved it then clunks like previously mentioned.

Any suggestions? Could the linkage be out of adjustment on the transmission?
Thanks in advance.

Edit: The noise is definitely not the solenoid as if the starter is bad... BTDT and I know what that sounds like. This is much louder and almost sounds like a hammer.

Make sure you didn't blow a head gasket and have coolant in one of the cylinders.

That was it. #1 cylinder went up like a geyser when we bumped it after pulling the plug.

Hopefully it's only the gasket.

When your truck moved forward it probably jacked up your tranny linkage. Your truck was in park, it moved a considerable amount and now the shifter says you're in park, but the tranny is probably saying otherwise. I have no idea how to fix this, but I know sometimes the shifter indicates park, while the tranny disagrees. We all know an automatic won't start if the tranny isn't in park. Maybe something to look at.

Sorry I couldn't be more help!

Yeah, I don't think the starter motor has enough torque to bend anything, your very lucky.

Why not jack it up and have someone under the truck while you try to start it to locate and help identify the source of the thump?

Let's hope so. We're doing both heads to make sure everything is ok.

Mods, you can close this thread if you like.
Thanks.

If he was in P and his truck moved he has more problems than a head gasket....

Im guessing you had it N Or D??? If it was in P im curious how far it moved.
Glad you found your leak tho im on the same thing lol

Transmission was fine. The engine was hydrolocked. The truck rolled downhill when it was in Neutral.
