Yeah, I fully understand what happens when you run a pump dry, but I ask because these Dodge/Chrysler ones really seem to not be able to take it even once. My ex-wife was notorious for running out of gas - despite the fact she was never in a vehicle with a non-working fuel gauge.

She did it about four times in a Nissan we had and the fuel pump never had a problem. Did it twice in two different Grand Cherokees and I had to replace the fuel pump both times.

Often, on this forum you see where someone ran out of fuel and had running issues, ultimately fixed by replacing the fuel pump...

Edit - actually I told a little fib, technically I didn't replace the pumps. Both times in our GCs the dealership replaced them under warranty - of course I didn't "volunteer" that my dear MRS. ran out of gas, LOL...

i recently purchased the trk about 4 months ago. Ive never ran out of gas myself I also noticed that when i pulled the pump out it was a cheapo airtek which is probably the main cause. I bought a set of the celfix o2 bypass deals

It's one of the lesser expensive sims on the market. I have used sims before but not that brand. Personally, I still like the $5 non-fouler trick, myself. Some sims work perfectly, others have issuse, but if the sim works when you first plug it in, it usually works for good...

Ok. Ive seen a few guys use Non-Foulers and have no luck and a couple that have. Never heard of Bypass/sims.

I've done about a dozen cat deletes over the years, including my old 2nd Gen. Never had the non-fouler trick not work, although I've had to take a couple back out and do the old steel wool tuck a time or two though.

Was prepared to have to use non-foulers on my 3rd Gen with the LT headers and the cats moved back, but so far, six-plus years later, the stock O2s have never sung out, not once...
