2007 Ram 1500 Shifting issues
Hi Everybody, I am new to this forum but have been lurking around for a while. I am really impressed with the vast amount of knowledge that is collectively available here. Now, here's my issue. I bought a used 2007 Ram 1500 with 4.7L Magnum about 2 years ago. It only had 17000 miles on it when I bought it and never had any issues with until the last 6 months. First thing I had to do was replace the front struts and rear shocks. No problem not too expensive. more recently I had an issue where I was driving it at around 40 -50 mph and it would suddenly shift hard and not have good power and then it would be fine after about a tenth of a mile. It did it a couple of times over about a week and then the check engine light came on and I drove it to the shop to get checked out. They put the reader on it and got the codes and told me it was a problem in the transmission. Could be little could be big. They said it was a solenoid and they would look into it further. Could be little could be big. Guess which one it was. So one complete solenoid pack and over $900.00 later I drove it home. Now it's been about three weeks and tonight it started shifting randomly at about 40- 45 mph. feels like it's totally confused as to which gear to be in. I was wondering two things. Did I get ripped off on the solenoid pack? And what do I do next? I honestly don't have another penny to put into this thing. My wife just finished cancer treatment and it left broke. Any help would be appreciated. Sorry for the long introduction.

Wanted to bump this back up with a further question. Since my tranny issue, I have heard many bad things about the 4.7 Magnum and all Ram Transmissions. Are all of these rumors true, and why are these not really publicized? It's a little difficult to understand that there are obvious issues with these vehicle's drive trains and it just continues on with people rebuilding transmissions and spending outrageous amounts of money just to keep them on the road. Any help with my first post would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Steve
