Today my 04 ram 2500 started then immediately shut off so I started it again and it shut off again. After 2 more tries it now will not do anything. Does not attempt to crank or anything. Just the factory red led "alarm" light blinks on the dash. After some research and troubleshooting Ive come to the conclusion its the key transponder thing. I bought this truck used a year ago and it is the only key I have for it and the only key the guy I bought it from had.

Problem is now I have learned from the dealer that my key is a Jet key or locksmith key as the dealer guy called it. He ran my VIN and said I had a PIN available but he needed the truck there to program it. Well thats gonna be difficult cause the truck is in my works parking lot. He handed me the card of a tow truck company and said make sure he drops it within 50ft of the building. Ummmm CRAP! I dont have the cash for a tow truck and a new key and programming until friday but I need my truck. Is there any trick to get my key working again temporarily? Even just long enough for me to drive 2 miles to the dealer would be perfect. Is there anything I can do to get my truck running so I dont have to tow it to the dealer?

Maybe take the key to another locksmith?
