tranny issues

Default tranny issues

so basically i serviced my tranny a while back and ever since i did when i shift into drive after driving thn sitting for a bit (it being warm) it slips. so if i put it into neutral then back to drive its fine. now the other day i was towing with it and coming out of 2nd it would rev up from 3000 rpms to 3700 or so then go into 3rd. its an 02 1500 4.7. anybody had similar problems or know what it could be any help would be appreciated

Sounds like your fluid is a little low. The first time I serviced mine it had similar problems and when I checked it after running up to operating temp I was 2 qts low. Make sure to get it warm and park on a level surface, put the ebrake on with the truck in neutral, then check your fluid level. Hope that's all it is for you too, if it ran fine before that's probably it. If your level is good, you might need to drop the pan and double check your filters, make sure the gasket has seated properly and both are correctly in place.

thanks thats kinda what i was thinking maybe the gasket isnt seated ive checked the fluid level numrous times it actually took 9.5 quarts and it only says it needs 7. i also used napa brand fluid do u think i should go with mopar stuff?

Any ATF+4 is fine. Just check the filters and gasket. I have found that a big socket over the new gasket works best. Just tap it until it seats nicely. Depending on how long you let it drain will determine the amount that needs to be replaced. I did a full drain and used 17 quarts so just go off the fill stick to determine the necessary amount.
