Default Rear end ticking & Trans in limp mode

I have a 2004 Ram 5.7 Hemi with the 45RFE trans. 290K miles, and never serviced transmission. (I know, but I don't need a lecture on servicing the Transmission right now.) I'm getting P0700 & P0750, MIL light is ON and truck goes into limp mode. I can clear codes and truck can work fine for anywhere from 5min to 2 hours. I did a hard reset of the PCM, and it worked for about 2 days. Before i change the solenoid pack, I'm about to go check solenoid connection, clean and reseat to see if that works, it worked all the time back when I worked on F16's.

Now heres some history that I just thought might be part of my limp problem and I wanted to bounce it off you guys. About 4 weeks ago I started to get a ticking from my rear end when I put it under a load. It wasn't a u-joint clunk, but more like a high pitch tapping on my drive shaft. It only happens when taking off from a stop. I can't make it happen once Im going. My guy who I normally take things to that I don't want to mess with said it could be in rear, or maybe U-joints, but we wouldn't know for sure till they open rear end. I did check rear and I was low on gear oil. Filled with Mobil 1 LS and used the additive, 4oz. Ticking is still there. I did change the gears about 3years ago, and the U-joints about 18 months ago. The u-joints had fittings, so I greased them with no help. Drive shaft is tight, no play at all.

Now once my trans problem started last week, I kinda put the rear end on back burner till I get trans fixed. And, I was hoping my adding gear oil and additive might just needed a little time to sink in. I know I was just grasping.

Is there any chance that this ticking problem is causing my TCM to detect a fault in my solenoid that's causing this P0750 and limp mode? I'm thinking before I open transmission that I go get PCM checked by dealer.

Also if I do change the solenoid pack, what else should I change while I'm in there? There's not much info on 04 and newer transmissions except for solenoid pack.

Any input is greatly appreciated.

I would think that the ticking is a rear end. and since your tranny hasnt been serviced in 300k its time for a rebuild more than likely

your drive shaft could be hitting the exhaust when taking off. then moving back away form the exhaust when not Accelerating. i was having the same issue.

Im not saying anyone is wrong but Dodge has a terrible rear end and they are known to tear up, have some one else drive your truck then you listen to see where you think the noise is coming from, this will help pinpoint the problem
