1500 rear differential has 2 stripped bolt holes - help

Default 1500 rear differential has 2 stripped bolt holes - help

I'm over here. I need some assistance. 2006 Dodge Ram 1500 rear differential housing has 2 stripped bolt holes - 1 at 12 o'clock and 1 at 6 o'clock. I started out changing the rear diff fluid. It has turned into a nightmare. What is the best way to repair the stripped holes? I don't think I did it, but I have to accept the blame just the same. After all, it's my truck! Any advice will be appreciated. Thanks guys!

Run a tap through the hole and install a new bolt. If that can't hold enough torque, You are going to have to get a THREADED INSERT. I prefer to use the hammer lock style. Basically with them, you drill and tap a larger hole big enough for the threaded insert to sit flush inside. Make sure you use a little extra silicone on them when putting the cover back on.
