Default Tailgate Lock?

Does Dodge offer a locking tailgate latch assembly?

I have a locking tonneau cover now but it's useless without a locking tailgate.

And further to that, there have been a rash of stolen tailgates in the Toronto area.

I don't know what dodge might have but likely will be pricey. Pop lock makes a basic add-on lock for all vehicles. About $40 at canadian tire or maybe $50-70 at most accessory stores. You can even get a power model that ties into you power locks for about $100-120.

I called the dealership a few months ago and they said the only thing they offer is a locking mechanism that goes under the handle. And im pretty sure its over $100. I just bought a bully replacement handle that had a lock built in it. they also make tailgate locks to prevent your tailgate from being stolen. 2 different pieces

The handle locks can usually be defeated with a long screw driver. If you're worried about tailgate theft, get a hinge lock like these. Much better protection than handle locks.

Some guys also use cheap but effective worm clamps around the hinges of the tail gate

that sounds like a cheap and easy option but i guess its not 100% effective if someone wanted it bad enough to bring a nut driver or screwdriver once they figured it out. but it will slow them down and would work. Gonna do it tomorrow. Thanks

If they have enough time to bring tools and take things apart, then your truck is parked in the the wrong place, you're sleeping too hard, your dog is lazy or too many other things

If someone wanted it bad enough, I think they will get it no matter what method you use. The key here is to make it enough of an inconvenience for someone to move on to the next truck.

Sadly, stealing tail-gates is becoming VERY common-place all over. I'm gonna have to invest in something as I'm hearing about it around here lately.

My neighbor's mother lives in a fairly upscale trailer-park (if there is such a thing, LOL) not far from here and she told me the other night someone in a truck with a trailer stole about half a dozen of those all-steel steps they have to get into the trailers WITH THE PEOPLE HOME! They threatened a couple of seniors with violence if they tried to stop them! People are getting awfully brazen for things to steal and take to the scrapper these days!!! BTW, I'm told the cops responded - 1 1/2 hours later, about an hour after the perps were long gone!!!
