Default hemi tick cure

Just wanted to share what i found that cured the hemi tick on my girl's 06.

Back story. Tick started about 130k miles. First was a real minor tick that has gotten a bit worse over the past 2 years. Have tried heavier oil, lucas oil treatment, all sorts of little things. Truck now has 158k on it. This noise was a dead ringer for a lifter. Everyone of my gearhead buddies(including myself) has pegged it as a lifter issue. Could barely hear it under hood and in front of truck. Right at drivers door was where it was the loudest and underneath.

So, what cured it? It had 2 loose spark plugs rear drivers bank cylinder. Both plugs were about a half turn loose. It now has a very small amount of injector noise, no tick.

Just wanted to share what i found. Its a free fix if anyone else has the same issue. I have searched and searched for the last 2 years and we got to the point where so many others are that we just ignored it. Wish i would have changed plugs 2 years ago.

There is more than one reason for a tick in that area. I thought I had a ticking lifter too in the same area. First time I ended up finding out it was a torque converter. Tick went away....few months later, same thing, same area. Right after an oil change. That identical ticking noise from the same area ended up being a broken flex plate (the flywheel for automatic transmissions). I have a feeling that everyone's "HEMI" tick is something a little different from one another. You were able to find yours like I found mine. It's good for everyone to know things to check for when something ticks in their motor. A lot of things can tick without it actually being any kind of major damage to a motor.

Now with the tick that you are talking about was is the kind of tick that went away when the truck warmed? Or was it a constant tick?

The "Tick" people are complaining about is almost the first year after owning. It's not an exhaust leak like ebaum is probably trying to get at, it's just apart of the Hemi. I know it's not a loose plug ( I think it was just an isolated incident in your case ) cause I have changed the plugs on my buddy's truck and it did nothing for the "Tick". I myself don't have a "Tick" and consider myself lucky.

Ebaum, my tick did not go away, ever.

Arctodus, from what i have read most of the uncurable hemi tick problems have occurred much sooner than mine.

Anyway, its just one more thing to check for people fighting this problem. Cost nothing to check. I know im not the only one with that problem, a local dealer tipped me off to check it.
