i have an 04 R/C with the v6 and 4sp auto with the v6 value package cloth seats cruise control and 17 alloys with the chrome bumpers love it because of what gas when to plus i put 40 dollars in every 5 or 6 days and that gets me 10 gallons when gas was at 3.40 or so. the only problem i have is like RedRam225 said u dont get the center console and power windows and locks and tinted windows which i would like to have and i would like to have more torque like chevy and ford cause they have around 270 to dodges 235 and i would love to have a manual cause if u get a 04 u get a 5 sp and 05 and 06 u get a 6sp compared to my 4sp plus check the dash on the 03 to 04,05 there is a difference and i like the 04 and on better . on a side note my dad have a 04 4x4 quad cab hemi and it was a beast compare to my truck it would put u back in ur seat the v6 wont but it was like 100 in gas a week so u got to think bout that and thats what u would be paying with the 4.7 with the same gas mileage as the 5.7 with less power. but thats just my opinion hope that helps

I have an 05 Ram Reg cab 2wd with a V6 in it. It runs great and I ave 18 mpg City HWY or better.

I also tow a camper and it does just fine, even through the Moutians in NC. It's not under powered at all.

Towing the camper I ave 15 mpg so it's not bad at all.

Its true the 4.7 and 3.7 are pretty close in mpg (I'm getting 19 out of mine and my neighbor is getting 15). Test drive them both, I was actually rather unimpressed with power of the 4.7 (w/ 3.55 rear). The 3.7 (w/ 3.92 rear), at least to me, drove better, handled the same, and mine is actualy faster off the line than a lot of the 4.7's I've seen. Plus I regularly load my 8' bed down with firewood, almost to max payload, even at highway speeds you dont really feel a power loss. The only time I wish I had a v8 was towing a box trailer through the mountains. Even at that the v6 did it, just got all of 9mpg...

I've had my 05 Ram nearly a year with a v6 and I do wish I had a v8. However, now that I have installed an e-fan, it pulls really well. Quicker on starts and better on fuel. I guess I would still buy my truck again. For the price I paid, mileage, and the condition of the truck, I could not find anything close to it!
