Default altenator 5.7 hemi question..

I have a loud squeal from what I think is the fan belt pully on the altenator, when I spray wd 40 in the inside of this pully, thiers no noise, un till the wd 40 is spun out of the pully.

My question is, can you replace just the fan belt pully on the altenator,or do I replace the altenator?

Thanks ...

There should be a nut on the front of the alt you can take out and replace the pulley. Thats how most alts are anyway. With that being said, maybe it is the shaft bearing and nor the pulley?

All the othier drive belt pullys have been replaced, when this noise started I was convinced it was the water pump (trained to fear the worst ) but I tracked it down to alternator pully ... as this truck is 6 years old, it may be wise just to replace the Alternator vers replacing a bad pully and than having the altenator go...

Im not having any starting or charging issues but my truck sense feels that the battery should be replaced as it is 6 years old as well, in the cold, no issues starting, but I can tell the battery is not eager ...

Im not so smart, after buying a rebuilt alternator and installing it, I was still getting this god awful squeal, now Im kinda confused.....Fan belt next to new so I never gave that a 2nd thought, as are the all the drive belt pullys ( not aternator) are new But the fan belt was the orginal cause for all the sqealing, Fan belt was coverd under warenty, thiers less than a year on it, say 5000 km.
