Default Remote Start Option

I just bought this 2008 truck about 2 months ago, is there a way to add the factory remote start option or do I have to take it to Dodge to have it added? Thanks

Scrap,

The vehicle has to have the remote keyless entry feature in order to be able to add the Mopar remote start and the remote has to be programmed in by the dealer.

Easier and actually cheaper to add aftermarket. It'll work at MUCH further distances as well. You'll need the bypass module to go with the remote starter. These are programmable and you do not lose your key, but do need 2 keys to program it.
I would suggest getting a remote starter w/keyless entry and buying a single stick key to cut down on the huge key. These are $20shipped online and your local hardware store can cut them for $1. You also need 2 factory programmed keys in order to make a spare work.
If you have only 1 key, you'll need to visit the dealer and pay out the ***.

I would highly suggest having a shop do the install. If you must do it yourself, I reccomend AutoAlarmPro . While they are slightly more expensive than buying just a starter in a box, they provide Color step-by-step instructions and pre-wire/cut everything for you. provide you a test probe as well. I went that route because of the electronics in these trucks. Took me 3hrs taking my sweet time. Owner is very knowledgeable and never cut me off on the phone when I had an issue with my product. They have technical support lines to assist with any problems as well. A few other members have went to him and were very pleased.

Thanks for the info, forgive me if I sound like a dummy, Remote keyless entry...is that where you unlock all door on the key? if so I have that as well as both keys. I thought maybe easy enough to add this feature to the truck since Im getting older and get darn tired walking out to warm up my vehicles in the winter. I will look into the info dirtydog. I may wait on doing it tell I get more informed on what it will take to do it. sounds like something for me to have a professional do. You all have a great week.
