I am not saying that the drop in will rust out the bed, please reread my post. Also, a good quality spray in bed liner, e.g. Line-X, will not fade due to the UV inhibitors built in. I guess given long enough everthing will fade, but I would probably have moved on to another truck by then.

I've never seen a faded drop in either.

I had a 1998 Dakota 4X4 that came with the dealer installed drop in bedliner. After 2 years I noticed it had started fading and it was rattling in the wind. I did not have any damage to the bed though. That truck never seen the inside of a garage. I went to Line-X and was the 3rd customer in the new Palatine, IL site. They sprayed my new 2005 Ram and I couldn't be more satisfied. The thing about the spray in liner is it has a lifetime warranty if something does happen like gouges, scratches, cracking, and other stuff like that. My plastic drop in was definitely starting to look like crap and would've had to buy a new liner. On the other hand Line-X will give you another coat for free.

I also have the line-x and am very satisfied. the over the rail install accents the tonneau cover. my only concern is when hauling finished products like fine furniture or milled boards, you need to separate the rough surfaced bed from the cargo. But then I also wrapped the cargo when the bed had no liner.

I got a price of $600. Don't waste your money. Get the drop in.

I had a bed liner in my F150 for 10 years before pulling it out for a spray in. The bed was immaculate, no rust and very MINOR paint scuffing when I pulled it out.

I have really never heard much good about the drop in liners, I got my 95 Ranger 10 years ago and never used a thing but a rubber bed mat in it, its still in very good shape. On my Ram I have the Reflex spray in , and the rubber bed mat and the tail gate protector! Not worried too much.

Don't get the drop in, the sprayed on Linex or Rhino lining will look better and perform better as well as keep it rust free past your truck's life.
