Default '02 Ram 4.7 Heat

I have a question that I need answered.
I had no heat in my Ram.
By reading/posting here and other places, replaced the following: expansion tank (neck was cracked), water pump, and t'stat (nothing wrong with the originals). Checked rechecked, verified and checked again all the dampers and actuators. back flushed core twice with garden hose. Great strong stream from the outlet. Used Prestone engine coolant flush as per manf. specs. (2 bottles). Heater core hoses were cool. Hoses heated up (temporarily) by squeezing any hose. Was able to get the hoses so hot, and got blisters on my thumbs. Still no consistent heat.
Reversed the heater core hoses, got heat. Someone please explain.
I will change the core (along with the evap, and possibly all the dampers) come spring.
Any input as why I have now heat?

Doesn't make any sense to me. Unless there is some sort of one way valve in the core.

even if there was a check valve........... doesn't allow flow.
Truck did heat before. And I know I didn't mix them up accidentally. They kinda only go in 1 place.

Only thing that i can think of is..... when you refilled the antifreeze did you burp the system? sounds like there is either air in the system or a clog somewhere.

Yes. I got the hose squeezing thing from my Chilton's book, or was it the Haynes?

Okie dokie. Starting to kinda smell coolant in the passenger compartment. It's supposed to be in the fifties this weekend. I guess I have to bite the bullet and do it now.
I read that you need a special tool to dis engage the a/c lines. Never seen one. Anyone have a pic. or a method on how it's used.

Wrong core from auot store. Centerline of tubes wrong.
Firewall penetrations for the tubes are 1 1/2'' center.
new core was 3 1/2, and cannot be adjusted without destroying it. Returned, got possibly the correct one. Except, the way this thing seems to lay, it will be parallel to the firewall, needing (2) 90 degree turns for air flow.
Has anyone done a core on a 02 4.7?
Has anyone an exploded parts diagram of the HVAC box to see an orientation of the core?
