So, aboot those bastard year Hemi valve springs
Hello Baron,
First time I've seen this thread.Kinda surprised after all the research I checked for my '03.
In case it still helps (took me 1-1/2 years to get to mine)
The AC vs. AD part #'s are a 16 piece kit vs. a single spring IIRC.
Silly me, I figured I was going to dive in one weekend and bought springs from a local dealer, $156! And I saw a few online prices near 1/2 but 'had to have them now'.
The springs 'can' be done on the engine with a special compressor tool.
A friend talked me into trying the standard version. Forget about it.
1) It barely grabs the original spring coils. The 'fork' is poorly done.
2) With the replacement 6.1 springs, the 'bucket' prevents you from getting enough bite to compress the spring far enough to install the keepers (locks). I had to grind nearly 1/4" of material to get the tool to grab the bottom of the spring, get the keepers on,release most of the pressure and then knock the tool out from under the spring to remove it.
Hope this helps
J
