Seafoam?
I've run seafoam in my cougar on numerous occasions, and have run 3 cans through my truck already.
It doesn't damage seals or anything, and just the other day I picked up a can of seafoam spray to clean my throttle body.
It seemed to do a real nice job cleaning my TB, and didn't make the engine bog down when I was using it like it does through the brake booster line. I didn't see much smoke either but my TB is really clean now.

I can't imagine that seafoam is going to harm anything considering we pump it through our brake boosters, the only difference is it's point of entry.
Lot of good points being made on here. I will still concider taking it to my mechanic and having him do a fuel system cleaning being that it only costs a little over $100. Besides if anything goes wrong with any sensors he's good enough about putting in new ones for free! I go to school for automotive and the instructor told me the chemical(formula) they use hooks straight to the fuel line by-passing any gasoline
As I said earlier, I've used it many times and would NEVER tell anyone to "run it through the brake booster," as you advocate.
