Hey everyone, need a little help with a 2007 ram 1500. It's a friends truck and I'm helping him get it working right.
The truck came to me with no warning lights (with key on they do not illuminate) no headlights at all, no tun signals/hazards, no windshield wipers, truck won't shift into 4wd, no gas gauge, and there's a bad draw. A local mechanic replaced the multifunction switch with a new one with no changes, so he put the old switch back in and gave up. Now it's my mess to try and fix...

I did some pinout tests for the TIPM and it failed the tests. Ordered a new TIPM from the dealer and had it coded by them. I now have DTRL/low beams so there's some improvement but the other problems still remain. The dealer gave me a list of remaining codes:
-U0151 lost comm. with ORC
-wipers, turn signals/hazard, panel dimmer, headlamp switch, gas gauge: all have input circuit too high.

I'm trying to figure out, did the bad TIPM prevent a new multifunction switch from working? Could it also need a headlight switch? Is the cluster fried? Any pointers on diagnosis procedures or hints/tips would be greatly appreciated.

One last thing, when I tried pulling c codes with the odometer I didn't get the usual 2 pair. What I got was "5 37", "= 323", "C 542" repeating 3 times. None of the codes changed with engine or key cycles. The display never read "c code" and never gave the end sequence.

Check the harnesses under the dash on the driver's side above the pedals.. check for any melted connectors.

Next check the connectors on the PCM in the engine bay...

Also check all grounds by removing them cleaning up the mating surfaces and remounting them....

There are a bunch of threads out there like this and the majority end with the replacement of the PCM or replacement of the entire electrical harness... both of which aren't cheap or quick respectively....

Can you also please list the engine size, mileage and any modifications you have made?

Oh and btw the ORC is the Occupant Restraints Control... so that has something to do with the restraint system in the car... start checking the ABS, SRS, and Air Bag Modules... But I would not advise jumping ANY leads on the SRS or Air Bag systems with or without the battery connected, as you can sometimes short them and cause the airbags to activate... then you're in for a much bigger headache...

Thanks for the reply. The truck has a 5.7 hemi and 30,000. The only modification is a plow attachment. All the plow wiring is disconnected right now and the truck is running in stock trim.

It seems like the TIPM fixed 2 things: the DTRL works and the draw seems to have disappeared.

I'm spending a bunch of time on it this weekend, so any other tips would be awesome. I'll check the main connector by the steering column at the firewall. I'm also going to check all grounds and basic wiring.

I know it's been a few years but if anyone else looks up this issue, I just wanted to throw out there my solution. I had same problem and it ended up being the dash cluster because it has a body control module built into it. Brand New under $200 junk yard $40.
