?? About Defrost Mode

I have ab 06 Ram 2500 Diesel. I am almost positive the A/C light came on when put in the defrost mode. It is no longer coming on. I believe I hear the compressor engage. The air flow is not that strong, but it does transition to all positions. Is that light on the A/C button supposed to come on? If it is any suggestions?

Usually the light doesn't come on, but the compressor is engaged for defrost to reduce the moisture.

If you had the A/C (button on) before you went into defrost, the light will illuminate, if it was not running the A/C (button off) prior, it won't.
