I have a 2003 dodge ram 2500 5.7 hemi and i drove it to work and then went back out to start it and it turned over and backfired then when it started it revs up to the rev limiter (3500) then back down. it continuously revs up and down like that in park. also this light came on

Any ideas what could be causing it to do this???

Electronic throttle control light. Pull trouble codes let us know what they are.

 

Cleaning the throttle body wouldnt hurt.

 

My 2004 hemi did the same thing when it was raining for 3 days and someone water got into the electrical system. I blew everything out with air for about 30 minutes and problem went away.

 

Ok i cleaned the inside of the throttle body as much as i can. didnt do much. Code P0205 came up which is cylinder 5 injector malfunction. but when engine is revving up it revs great. doesnt stutter at all. now when i turn the key in ignition ON without turning over the butterfly inside the throttle body twitches open and closed. i dont think it is supposed to do that?? but when it revs up the whole truck will move like if you stomped it. but when i unplugged the throttle position plug it didnt do it as hard but still reved to 3500 rps and back down.

 

I'm having the same problem out of the blue with the revving like the truck is possesed! I tried a brand new Throttle Body since I was getting no response and the Throttle position light is flashing but still doing the same thing. I had it diagnosed at the dealer and all they said was I have a vaccuum leak at the motor somewhere and gave me these codes P0123, P0222, P2106, P2108, P2111, P2172 but I don't see how that has anything to do with the throttle not responding. Can somebody help please
