Hey Guys, I really need some help here. For the last year every time I refuel my 2002 Dodge Ram Q-cab I darn near get a major fuel spill. The last few times the pump just dosn't shut off until I release the handle on the nozzle. I know it isn't the pump at the gas station unless every darn one of 'em is bad! Does anyone have advice for me?

 

I know the Durangos had a problem with something in the tank breaking, a flap or something, that would cause fuel to belch back out of the tank AFTER the pump clicked itself off. A few Rams were affected as well. I don't know if this could be related to your problem but is worth a short search and read. If I'm not mistaken it required a fuel tank replacement as the fix. Good luck and I hope you get it fixed.

 

Possibly the tanks vent hose?

 

I believe there is a one-way valve in the neck. That might be the culprit, although it does require replacement of the tank. My boat does the same thing, nothing wrong, just the nature of the beast. You just have to be careful filling up. I listen very carefully for that "almost full" sound, then quickly click the handle off. Maybe I'm a quart below topped off, but who cares, right?

 

This has been the cause I have experienced in the past. Pressure is need to short off the nozzel.
