Post 2002 4.7 to 2005 5.7 hemi swap write up

Well guys, I'm still kind of new here. But I haven't seen many people do the swap that I am currently working on (only thing left is a stupid motor mount). I have a 2002 dodge ram 1500 4x4 with the 4.7. The motor dropped a valve seat because the previous owner over heated it waaay to much. Honestly, it sounded like a miss if anything, no motor noise or anything till I took the intake off and found the stupid thing standing up straight. I was online looking for a new 4.7 but they're just outrageously priced. So, I bought a 2005 dodge ram 1500 single cab short bed, like mine but with a 5.7 and 70,xxx miles for 1500$. It was a complete rollover and a parts only truck. It's taken me a few weeks, but I've changed over the motors, changed the wiring harness from headlight to taillight...quite litterlly everything was different, the gas tank and fuel rail, as well as the anti-lock braking system. I've spent forever trying to get the 4x4 to work right due to how it operates but i've gotten most kinks out. I just have to find a 2005 dodge 1500 motor mount for a 4x4 rather than the 2 wheel drive my motor came from for the drivers side. But i'm hoping saturday night I'll be driving it home. It's been a nightmare of a swap dealing with miles of wires and a bunch of trials but I think it'll be worth every bit of it once its finished! I've taken some pictures of all the work I've been doing. And for my first motor swap i think I'm doing okay with just the help of a friend and the alldata at my college i use in my auto class.

Don't forget to keep the lock cylinder from the 2005 and the key b/c you will need that to start her up... stupid ignition immobilizers and coded keys lol.

I want to see pictures!

I, along with countless others, want to see some serious pics and details.

I doubt I would keep my 2002 once I can afford to trade-up and get a hemi, but I would love to see this completed, 100% and functional.

I dream of the day I can stop driving the gutless 4.7 and upgrade to some serious power....even though between both motors the difference between HP/Torque is only like 10-15.

That's what I was thinking too - but I would want to hear more about this swap.

Good Deal - Congrats!
