A/C compressor squeals when on
Hey
I have an 02 dodge ram 4.7L, I had the defrost on and the truck would squeal and get louder when accelerating I thought it was the belt but didn't notice it slipping on anything but I saw when the a/c compressor would spin the squealing would start, then stop when the compressor stopped spinning. so im guessing its that, Is there any way to fix the compressor or do I have to buy a new one?

Welcome to the site. As said, you can buy a clutch, but for the time, tools and money, you might just buy a new one and be faster about replacing it. Thats up to you but remember the refrigerant will have to be recovered/replaced.
Check the simple first. The belt is slipping when the clutch is engaged, that is the noise. You shoud be able to tell the difference if it is a bearing. Is it just the tension on the belt, belt worn or is it infact the compressor geting ready to seize? You cannot always tell if the belt is slipping by lookiing at it. From 30,000 feet, the clutch appears to be working.
