Default AWD conversation to the 4WD transfer case

Hey I have a 2004 AWD Dodge Ram 1500 5.7L Hemi, I also have a transfer case I would like to put in it that has the 2wd-4hi-4low option in it. Both the transfer cases are elactronic shift, and I was wondering if I can just pull the AWD transfer case out and bolt up the new transfer case, or is there more to it? I've been reading on here and some people say to just bolt the new one in place, other people are telling me that I need to re program the computer and what not, can someone please let me know what I should do, thanks

I don't think it's just a bolt up, you would need to do alot more. Honestly i doubt it's worth it. It's really not that much of a gain going awd > 2wd anyhow. I get about the same mileage on my awd that the 2wd guys get. Plus you save on tires
