Can some one tell me if the ignition key is suppose to unlock the door on a 2007 Dodge Ram Big Horn. Mine will not but I dont know if its something as simple as being able to order a new key using the VIN or if I need to replace the door lock. I bought this truck used and got 2 keys both having the keyless entry buttons which work fine, But I would like a manual key so I can leave my truck running with AC on for my dog in the summer time

 

The key for the ignition should work everything in the truck including the manual door locks. At least in my 2007 it does.

Sounds like it's had the lock or ignition switch changed. BTW, it's still not a good idea to leave your pooch in the truck. If it shuts off, bad things could happen real fast.

 

Either your door lock or ignition cylinder was replaced. Any qualified locksmith can match the lock to your key by adjusting the tumblers.
The door panel comes off pretty easily. There's 3 screws that hold it on and it lifts up and off. Hardest screw is where the door handle is(becareful to not strip it when screwing it back on!) Takes 5min to remove door panel. You can then unscrew the exterior door handle, unclip the 2 rods by flipping the plastic clip ends over and remove the handle completely. Then bring it to a locksmith.
OR just have the locksmith do everything but they'll charge more.

 

Or his manual lock is broken like mine
