transmission not engaging after 2nd gear
This morning I warmed the truck up and decided to try one more time. I put it in drive and drove at 3/4 throttle. It still didn't change gears after 2nd but now check engine light came on. I tried the key code trick but no codes.
That is a little hard to believe....
Not very common for 3rd 4th and 5th to just "go" for no apparent reason, unless you ran too low on fluid or did not use the recommended Mopar Fluid in the trans.
I have seen all of this happen when the filters are incorrect or installed incorrectly in the trans.... and we've also seen it happen when speed sensors break.
Did you ever get the code from the check engine light?

Bought the truck new.fluid wasn't low..mechanic is tearing it down to find the cause. He mentioned that the pressure was off the chart for 3,4 and 5th gear.he said.something might be cracked inside
idk man.... If you didn't get the trouble code I can't call BS on the mechanic's diagnosis... and I'm not looking at it so I can't even begin to speculate.
All I can say is, the Ram transmissions are near bulletproof as long as you change the fluid and stuff on-time.
