Default Clunking Sound From Front End

I own a 2005 Dodge Ram 2500 2wd i have been having this clunking sound when i go over bumps..but when i hit the breaks and go over bumps it does not make the clunking sound anymore. It has been going on for 4,000 miles now from the front end of my diesel. Also i have recently replaced my front shocks and upper ball joints 2,000 miles ago, aswell as the sway bar links. I have 259,000 miles on the truck and cannot figure out what it is..it is driving me up the wall! please help!

Best place to start is to put the front end up in the air with jackstands under the chassis rails to let the entire front end hang, then start tugging and pulling on everything looking for something that moves or wiggles that shouldn't. Look at the new stuff you put in make sure nothing loosened up. Check the u-joints on the front drive axles and make sure they aren't clunking instead of rotating in the bearings. Push and pull on the tires top and bottom to check the bearing hubs.....etc.

I know my dads truck had the same problem. We checked everything. It turned out that the front rotors where making the noise. The holes where the wheel studs came through were hogged out. We replaced both rotors and all the wheel studs, after that the problem went away

Make sure your shocks are tight. Also look and see how far you are sitting from the bump stops, my 03 always bottomed out and i ended up putting some coil spring spacers in there.
