Remove dust gaurd by the brakes?
So I changed both of my front hub assemblies but bent the passenger side dust gaurd, have straightened it back out 2 times but can't get it just right, it is squealing against the back of the rotor. Can I just remove it? Can I just cut most of it off with snips or should I remove the hub again and take off the whole gaurd?
You should be able to just pull it out away from the rotor with your hands with everything assembled until it doesn't make contact. I've bent those things multiple times and that's what I always do. Don't cut it off it's there for a reason I would assume.
Honestly up to you. Regular 1500's have them, SRT-10's don't. My old ones wouldn't even fit behind those things. If you leave them off I'd say make sure you wash under there more often (or at least look) to check for debris.
I went ahead and took them off and no more squeaking. Not gonna pay $50 each from the dealer for that. My truck goes through the car wash every week and gets the underbody wash every time so I don't see it being a issue. Thanks for the replies.
