05 Ram 1500 (California) "not ready" for emissions in PA
I know very little about the mechanics of a vehicle so I'll just post what my mechanic buddy told me at his shop.
My '05 Dodge Ram 1500 (bought in California) failed the PA emissions test because the O2 and Catalytic lights on his handheld diagnostic machine were reading "Not Ready".
He told me, and I read alot while searching these forums, about finishing a drive cycle. My battery was disconnected about 1 month ago. My check engine light is not on and there are no error codes being put out. I've driven at least 150 miles in the month since my battery was changed, could I still not have completed the Driving Cycle? Is there anything else I should be looking into or just go out there and rack up some more miles.
The other question I have, related to this, is since my truck was built for sale in California, could it have been designed in a way that the PA emissions machine just doesn't read it properly?
Thanks for reading,
Tim

You might want to stop at autozone (or similar) and have your truck scanned for any problems. If no DTC's (error codes) you should be good to go, if o2 sensor problem remains, most likely time for new sensors. Could also need a full tune up, as the history of the truck is unknown. Get it scanned first, come back here and repost results. There are some really sharp guys on here that are always willing to help
Also in the manual it gives instructions on how you can test to see if your emission monitors are in a readiness state for emission testing.
From memory i believe you turn to key to the ACC position and keep looking at the MIL light. The light will come on steady and then start blinking for 5 seconds. if after the 5 seconds it becomes steady again then its not ready for emissions. if it continues to blink after 5 seconds then the sensors are in a readiness state.
