Default Need Help Mag-Hytec Pan Install

Need a little help or advice. I installed my deep pan and a 1 ton tranny cooler today and now the pan is leaking. I removed the factory pan changed filters and put it back on using a rubber gasket from wix and a light coat of black rtv on each side of the gasket. After that i started on the trans cooler and finished it up and put my cai back on. After letting the rtv set up for about 4 hrs i started filling it up with expensive amsoil trans fluid. I got it filled up and checked for leaks and sure enough i have a leak from 1 bolt hole to the next one beside it. It was pretty bad, heck i didnt even get to start the engine yet and i had 1/4 of a quart or so on the ground. So i drained the fluid back into the jug and i will get back on it tom. Any suggestions? Keep in mind both surfaces are flat milled aluminium.

I've always stood by the premise, if you use a gasket, just use the gasket alone and no sealer. My reasoning being, why would you use a sealer when that's the gaskets job?
If no gaskets available, use the correct sealer. In this case a high temp quick setting RTV.
My guess is, that your gasket is either poor quality/missed a quality control process or the smear of sealer you've used, has caused the sealing problem your experiencing.
Clean everything off and just use a high quality high temp RTV with a large enough bead around the pan to seal it, but not squash out everywhere. Pay particular attention to around the bolt holes. Run a bead the entire circumference around the holes.
Never ever had a problem with using good quality sealer.
Just my 2c.
Al.

Thank you, I bought a replacement gasket and this time I will leave the sealer alone. If that doesn't work then its only rtv. When I first installed it I used both and when I started to torque it down the gasket started squeezing out and in in some places even though the bolt holes were lined up. So I assume it was caused by using both.

I see on the other site my suggestion seems to have worked.
Good result.
