2004 Dodge, 5.7 hemi - lifters keep sticking
We have just replaced all 16 lifters and springs because we had a few lifters collapse. It ran awesome for about 10 minutes, then the tapping noise started again, 5 lifters collapsed. We just put these in. I was told it's not the cam, because everything is roller. That it has to be the lifters or springs. It sounds like it needs oil, but the oil and water are ok. What could cause brand new lifters/springs to collapse? Could the parts be defective?
Thanks, Laura

Well, hemis are famous for the "hemi tick" that will not seem to go away.
But if its a much more serious tick, then yes it would have to be a problem with the lifters. the whole point of hydraulic lifters is to eliminate the need to adjust them.
Guitman is correct, clogged oil passages in the block and head could be causing the lifters to collapse. Also, you could be using the wrong viscosity of oil... what kind of oil are you running in it?
