Default 2004 ram 1500 hemi brake issue solution

After seeing too many posts on this subject without solutions, I thought I would share this solution. A 2004 Dodge Ram 1500 Hemi was brought to me with a front brake issue. It seems the owner had installed new front brake rotors and pads and now had no braking on the front. I learned that the pistons in the calipers had been pushed back with a c clamp. After looking it over, I had the owner buy a new master cylinder and after I bench the master cylinder, installed it and bled the front calipers with a mighty vac, front brake operation was restored. The original master cylinder was a joint venture made by TRW and TOKIKO. I took it apart and discovered that the seals are very soft and there is just enough clearance that the seals can reverse themselves in the bore, which results in no braking pressure and will not let fluid flow in the correct direction which results in no brakes. I highly recommend that when ever doing a brake job on any vehicle, open the caliper bleeder screws whenever doing front or rear disc brake jobs, and then bleed the calipers when the new parts are installed.
