Exclamation 2007 5.7L Starting Issues

So about a week ago, I let a friend borrow my beloved for about 3 hours, I get the truck back and immediately start having issues with starting. Since then, she has denies doing anything to the vehicle and has no idea what happened.

Anyway here is what's going on:

I start the truck, first try it starts as normal. As the RPM start coming down the truck hits about 800 and shuts itself off.

Next start is a no go, it will probably crank forever if I let it.

After playing with it for a minute or two, I get nothing, no turn over, no starting.

All dash lights are good, no check engine lights, and not throwing a code.

So far all I have done is try googling and replacing literally every fuse I have. with no change in starting pattern.

I literally have no idea where to start, or what to do. Any ideas?

Did she put gas in it? Why would you replace fuses?

She put no fuel in it, and I'm not sure, I just pulled out fuses from the toolbag and started replacing them one by one and trying to start it on a whim. I'm pretty desperate here.

Sounds like electronic engine management to me; if it were mechanical it most likely wouldn't start at all. In addition to the ECM/PCM the throttle Position Sensor, Crank Position Sensor, Cam Position Sensor, air flow sensor, oxygen sensors are all things that really start working right after engine start. All the sensors are used with the PCM to control the fuel/air mixture once the system starts working in "closed loop" mode; during start the PCM is using pre-programmed inputs in "open loop" mode. It would be nice to get a CEL and/or code to narrow it down but I would look in that direction anyway.

Sounds like a key transponder issue. Disconnect the battery for 5 minutes, reconnect, and see if she starts. Mine does this a few times a year. Starts and then shuts down. After a few tries, won't even crank. A quick disconnect, and trouble free from then.

Yeah, what he said! I'm actually ashamed of myself for not thinking of this.

Surely you friend wouldn't have damaged and/or tried to replace your key in some way and not told you...right?

I never damaged or replaced my key, and it still happens. Dealer told me it is probably the sensor in the column that is a little touchy now and then.

^^^^^ This guy is a genius, she's running great now! I'm guessing this mixed in with the fact that it's close to a million degrees here in Arizona. I haven't had any recent issues, and it's started fine for the past couple days.
