Default Serv 4wd light

Hey guys,

Been searching past threads, cant really find anything to help me out.

Ok: 2007 1500,QC SLT 4x4 with 140,000 miles.. About 3 months ago the SERV 4WD light popped on & has been randomly popping on every since. Some days itll come on soon as I start the truck, other times it may not come on at all. Whats strange is there seems to be a voltage drop-I can tell when the light is fixing to come on, because the fan/ac compressor will momentarily shut off,,the headlights dim & the inside dash cluster & the cup holder light all dim as well.

Sometimes, everything will start to momentarily dim, go back to normal, & repeat several times before the light comes on, or it may not..

Being that the 4wd is disabled while the light is on, I'm wanting to get it fixed, but I dont want to buy an $120 actuator & it not solve the problem.

Any ideas??

That is a very hard thing to diagnose because we don't have any DTCs to go off of, so it could be *******ly anything from the TIPM turning off the 4x4 circuit(s), to a bad ground or electrical connection.

Without more information that is really up to the dealership to troubleshoot...

If you can get the Diagnostic Trouble Code(s) (DTC) then post them up and we might be able to help more.

Sorry we can't help more...

Yeah it has me puzzled.. There are no DTC codes, just the SERV 4WD light..

It seems to be electrical, last night the cupholder light & the a/c light kept flashing on & off, & then finally the SERV 4WD light came on... I don't think a bad actuator would cause this??

Time to have the dealer check the TIPM system... sounds like something is going on that is a little beyond the DIY troubleshooting....
