Default Your'e gonna love this...torsion bar related.

So I had some work done on the truck, upper & lower control arm/ball joint assemblies. What I received had me worried...driver side was 2" higher than passenger side.

When I brought this to their attention they stated that everything was assembled properly and aligned. Being a technician of 10yrs myself, I said i find that hard to believe. "Did he do the alignment without checking ride height?" The answer was "no". Yeah, right.

Their fix, just adjust the torsion bars. "Is 38" from ground to fender-well okay with you?" I replied with, "As long as it's within factory spec."

So I pick up the truck, still not right, harsh ride, Driver side 38-1/2, Passenger side 38. I get off my lazy but and do the crawl, what do i find...Drive side torsion key is 2 threads from resting on the 'bottom' and the passenger key is just over 3/4 of the way in allowing no further adjustment.

Low and behold, I can see where the bar ends and keys were scribed with indexing marks. But due to new control arms, there is no scribing mark on them for bar insertion. Yep, he clocked the driver side arm wrong.

I tell the shop manager this, "Bring it back in and we'll take another look". After having it for another morning he calls and tells me it's the control arm. They "tried 6 different ways to align the bar with the control arm and kept getting the same results." "The 'socket' in the arm appears to be welded in at the wrong angle, you'll have to get us another one so we can replace it."

My reply, "You do know those control arms are Cast and not welded right?" pause for affect, "Nice try, now give me my keys."

On my way out I tell the shop owner, "Your brother screwed this one up bigtime" "I'll send you the bill for the alignment"...because no way was I gonna let them touch the truck again.

Gotta love when a shop tries to keep from fixing their mistakes not realizing the customer IS a former technician.

Sounds like a bunch of clowns working on your truck. Having had my bars out a few times I can tell you that it doesn't take a master mechanic to figure out how to properly align the keys. These guys just don't seem interested in doing good work, just interested in getting paid.
