2006 1500 Check Engine/Condenser Fan
I have a 2006 1500 with 4.7L engine. The check engine light came on about a month ago so I hooked up portable diagnostics and received, if I remember correctly, code P00068, which was not in the book. I asked around and was told I should clean the engine with Sea Foam. So I did.
Around this time my AC started acting funny so I had it checked out and was told the condenser fan was bad and needed to be changed. I thought no problem, I'll get it changed as soon as I can.
In the mean time, after I cleaned it with Sea Foam, it ran fine for a few miles then the engine light came back on. I took it to a shop this time and they recommended I clean the engine so I let them do it. They also said their computer did not give a code for the check engine light but the light went off after it was cleaned, so no big deal. It ran great for about a week then one day the engine just shut off while I was driving. Initially it did not start but after setting a few minutes, it cranked right up. The temp gauge did not indicate it overheated and this time the check engine light stayed on.
I took it to the dealer this time and was told the check engine code was from the condenser fan. Ok no problem...then I asked if the condenser fan would cause the engine to shut off? I'm still waiting to hear from them. Any thoughts?

I've not read any posts in any forum saying they had a code from an A/C condenser fan. You need to find out what the code is. Pretty sure "P00068" is not a valid code. P0068 refers to the TPS (Throttle Position Sensor). I'd say you should retrieve the truck from that dealer while you're still solvent. Were you having A/C problems?
Thanks MikeH
Yes, I am having AC problems because my condenser fan is not working. However it didn't make sense to me that the engine would shut off because of the fan. Also, they were unable to pinpoint my problem, with the exception of the fan. And they couldn't guarantee the fan would fix it. So I went get it. Now I'm out $$$ for a diagnostics fee without a diagnosis. Frustrating...

Klavine,
If there are problems with the condenser fan repairing the issue may resolve the engine concerns or it may be a separate problem. However, if it is a separate problem, after the repair is completed it may help locate the potential concerns with the engine.
