Well i have an 05 1500 5.7 hemi with 91,000 miles on it. truck runs great but every once in awhile and i mean very rarely there will be a little hesitation in shifting from to 1 to 2 gear and thats either up or down shifting. like i said hardly ever happens. but my question is how do you know if your tranny is slipping? in the actual feel or sound? just curious guys... thanks in advance..

At 91K, it needs some attention. The change interval is 60K. Get yourself about nine quarts of ATF+4 fluid, a small tube of RTV, a pan gasket and both filters. Do a drop 'n' drain of the pan, replacing both filters and the pan gasket. The tranny should be HOT when you test the level, but six quarts of fresh fluid is a good start. Not a difficult job, but it is messy. Newspaper - lots and lots of newspaper.

Ok, any special tools really required? i mean im no mechanic but i can do thnings with atleast the tools i have... so im still ok and really only need filters changed and fresh fluid and the minor hard shift should go away? the only real load i carry with it ever, is 1/2 ton coal every other week during the winter months. everything else is daily driving..

You'll likely need some Torx bits or allen wrenches for the filters.

At least my Ram did.
