Tire shoulder wearing fast
Hi
I have a tire wear problem. Truck is a'05 1500 4x4 Laramie.
The drivers side front tire wears on the exterior shoulder area. I had a spare tire so I replaced the old one and in a matter of weeks, the tire was completely wore to the belt. I don't corner hard of anything.
When driving at slow speeds, I cannot notice any steering pull. If I drive at speeds greater than 40 mph, the steering pulls slightly to the right so I "correct" it by constantly steering slightly to the left.
When driving over bumps, there's some knocking coming from the drivers side front end.
I know I should get it aligned but first I'd like to know what's causing this. Then I'll repair it and I'll buy new tires.
What could be the culprit? Ball joint? Control arm bushings?
What's the best way to find out myself?
Do I need special tools/pullers/anything else to replace front end parts on the ram? Is it an easy job?
Thanks!

It may be a bad wheel bearing, lift the front end up and try to rock the wheels back and forth. My wheel bearings would making popping sounds when hitting the brakes at the drive through with the wheels turned...until they started to sound like cash registers.
