Default Adding Foglamps Without Hacking the Wiring

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Mini-Blade-Fuse-Tap-Fog-Light-Switch-Circuit-TOYOTA-TACOMA-/141023460333?pt=US_Car_Audio_Video_Fuses_Fuse_Holders&hash=item20d5a73bed

A friend sent me this auction link so I figured I would post it here. He said it will work on vehicles other than the Tacoma.

For the love of god DO NOT use that to run direct power to your fog lights!!!!!!!

That kinda of connection should only be used for very low current draw! If you put lights on that you run the risk of a serious fire in your vehicle as you will heat up the wiring under the fuse box and on the other circuit you are tapping into.

You can certainly use that to Run a Relay and a switch, but do NOT run that directly to ANY kind of light.

By all means, you're correct. This type of setup can help those who want to do a clean install versus hacking their existing harness.

There is no need to "hack" the existing harness... they make connectors for the OEM bulbs that you can use to run to a relay which would retain ALL OEM Fuses and Operation (if equipped).

That would be a much cleaner way to install Fog Lights.

I am actually in the process of designing a kit for this very purpose.

If you have a SLT or better trim package, your factory harness and fuse box already have fog lights built in weather you have them installed or not. I bought my truck in FL were fog lights aren't as common but later decided to add a set of off road fog lights to a push bar. All I had to do was buy the factory headlight w/fog switch to replace the standard one and the fog light extension harness which plugs into an empty plug in your front bumper. I plugged in my lights and went to dealer to add fog lights to my computers factory options (lighting is computer controlled so they wont come on until you do this) and voila, I have my off road lights running through factory equipment.

Exactly my point!

If you can post Part #'s for the OP I'm sure he'd appreciate it...

I used factory part No. 56049637AD (HEADLAMP SWITCH W/FOG) and 56045501AC (Fog Wire Harness)

The harness plugged right in to an empty port found in the bumper and the opposite ends that are meant for the lights I cut off the factory style plugs and replaced them with flat 2 electrical connectors so I can easily swap lights if needed.
