03 RAM with Hemi, feels like only 4 cylinders
I have about 12,000 miles, the truck sits a lot. Once in a while it starts hard and kind of stumbles then suddenly starts running perfectly. There is no check engine light. Recently it was running poorly for about ten miles before it cleared. I had to put it to the floor to get up to 30mph. It roared when I did that but if I had been in a 45 mph zone I would not have kept up with traffic. Any ideas what it could be?
How long dies it sit for? Could be a bad tank of gas/ gas spoiled. The spoiling would mean it sat for a long time. Try running a fresh tank of 89 through it and see if it imrpoves. If it doesn't I would take it to the dealer, even if its out of warranty. Get a tune up, (plugs/wires, air filter, oil etc.) and see if that helps. Do the coil packs go bad on the Hemi'? I think the problem lies in the sitting, but thats me. Try adding some Sta-bil to the tank if your going to let it sit and run it so some gets into the injectors. That may help a bit next time it sits.

Although I use it infrequently when I do use it I normally burn all of the gas (towing the boat and home depot runs in the summer, primary mode of transportation in the winter). It is under warranty but I think its a good idea to know whats wrong with it before handing it over to the stealer, I mean dealer.
You said it roared when you floored the gas, so that means RPM's shot up. Engine's probably fine. Your tranny, however, may be slipping/malfunctioning. This is a relatively common problem on the Gen3 Rams. Take it in to the dealer but state you want a diagnosis only first. If it's still under warranty, there shouldn't be any fee for this. Then, take it to another dealership and have them diagnose it. If the diagnosis is the same, have 'em fix it!
But again, I'd suspect transmission.

I'd also opt for poor fuel. Fill it up with 93 to boost the octane of the old gas and use Sta-bil.
If my gas cap was bad wouldn't I get an OBDII code? If I had bad gas would I get a code for misfires? I made an appointment to have it looked at but when I found out that it was going to cost $80 for diagnosis and that I had to pay about $300 to address TSB 05-008-03 with only 13,000 miles I got bummed out. I took the truck for a ride and it was running perfectly so I canceled the apointment.
Hemi_chris, the next time I have the problem I'll check my RPMs. I don't think they were up there, it felt like misfires but if the RPMs were high it could well be the transmission.
