I was driving 75 mph down the hwy when the 04 1500 hemi just shut off still had lights radio horn and all but nothing at the ignition. after a little goofing around I discovered the remote for the alarm would start the engine and everything sounds fine but dies when I try to put it in gear. does anyone recognize this problem

 

So when you flip the key and try to start it, does it do anything or all or make any sound?

 

This has to be a security feature. It most likely is not recognizing the key transponder. If you have a second key try it. If the second key does not work then the security module will have to be replace at a dealership. The remote start overrides the key transponder but will kill the engine when put in gear without the key transponder. I don't have this on my Ram but I have a Chrysler 200 that has a key transponder feature.
