06 Ram 3500 (160,000 miles) Back up lites quit, went to dealer in Az. during last service (truck has been serviced religiously) and inquired about the B/U lites . He said it was the computer? and it cost $1000 to reolace or repair. Seems kinda steep just for back up lites.

 

As far as I know, the reverse lights are controlled by the TIPM aka "the computer". Double check that the lights are not actually flashing a few times as soon as you put it in reverse, that's exactly what mine did when it had a short to ground.
