Default Hypertech vs. Superchips

I have a 04 Ram HEMI, I've done a few mods like flowmaster exhaust and a K&N intake. Have any of you guys used either the Hypertech or Superchips?? Which one do you recommend????[[IMG][/IMG]

I recently installed the superchips on my 05 ram 1500 5.7. night and day diff. It recalibrated the trans. second gear chirps! I am very happy now. I dont think that the hypertech does anything with the trans.

I had a chevy S-10 and i used the hypertech programmer. I did notice a good differance in performance. It did have a setting to make your tranny shift alot firmer and you can change the shift points, raise your speed limiter (stock limit was 98 mph on that truck but raised it to 120mph.... i think), you can change the fuel setting for higher octane, there is more you can do but it is escaping me at this point in time. It worked awsome at first couple of times I used it but then it started to act up in the middle of programming. So i had to send it back and they replaced it. never used it after that, i just gave it to the guy when i sold the truck to. I also had friends who used Hypertech chips and had alot of problems. Still a lil' leary about hypertech.

I think you're right about Hypertech not being able to adjust the shift points. Do you know if the Superchips can calibrate for different size tires?

I just got my superchip programmer and it is a very noticable difference. My shifting doesn't take so long now and you can calibrate for different size tires with superchip. I cann't wait to try the tow program when I head to the desert at the end of the month hauling 8600lbs.

Interesting. I hate this trans behind a ballsy motor. Hopefully a performance oriented shift kit is in the works.

edit-Where did you set the rev limiter? And how did you calibrate the trans. I didn't find any trans options on mine.

I used the Performance program and changed the rev limiter up 500rpms. I do not recall seeing a shift point setting either but with using the Performance Program my transmission is shifting much better. It is taking a little longer to upshift and it will down shift a bit sooner also. I havn't had the time to really mess around with it so over the next few weeks I'll try different settings and see. I drive a motorcycle daily (living in San Diego) so I'm not messing around with it daily.
