Understood, but it's no cheap fix all the same. Especially if the head is shot. I'd be worried. Parting with a couple of thousand 2 weeks after buying the crate, would have me way past worried, I'd be right to gun totin, pissed off, where is that s o b!!!

Labor down here is cheap. I can get them removed and installed for around 160. Plus the labor and parts at the machine shop.

I am noticing the smoke a little blueish.

Some are saying its those plastic things on the valves. Some the head gasket. One guy says he can remove those plastic things with out removing the heads. I feel more comfortable if they remove them to inspect them while they are at it.

That's cheap. Book time for that job is 10hrs. If you can find a quality mechanic you can trust for $16 dollars an hour, He's gotta have more customers than he can handle!!!!!! You told him which engine you have right?? That price is more in line with an early 60's V8 that you took out of the car and delivered!!!!
