Default Rear end again

I had the posi let go bout 1 1/2 yrs ago. But after rebuild everything, bout 40,000kms the right inner carrier bearing starting making noise. Now 5 months and 20,000kms the bearings are starting to make a grinding noise again. The work is being done by a good trans shop that has been in my town for 15 plus yrs. What is the problem with these rear ends. I only use syn oil and the friction modifier.

I would say cheap bearing. or improper installation of new bearing..
they MUST be seated TRUE and SQUARE. with proper pre-load.

or was your truck in a crash and BENT the housing.

I was also going to suggest he check the truck and see if there was something going on like a bad rear end or side impact collision...

If they aren't using OEM or Name Brand components this is going to likely keep on happening every so often....

What a lot of people do is just replace the rear diff with a name brand LSD.... might be a good idea for you to do the same if this happens again.

It has never been hit. I'm just hoping that they fix it right this time. He says he is using good parts. Truck is at the shop now and hope to have it back Friday night so I will let you all know which bearing it was this time.

Saying he is using good parts is not the same as using good parts. Many shops have loyalty to suppliers who say their parts are just as good as OEM. INSIST on Timken bearings, or go somewhere else.

Look at the bearings on any commuter train wheel. They don't say precision pro.
