Default 2006 Ram 1500 knock then tick?

Truck has 166,000 miles on the 3.7 v6. just did water pump, have replaced all plugs and most of coilpacks . runs good but knocks on startup when cold and then the knock becomes a low tick tick tick on both sides of motor. power is good but was better in recent months. burns a quart oil every 400 miles but does not leak a drop or smoke unless it idles for a while and then only puffs blue smoke on takeoff. idles great and starts right up. My question on this truck is what do you think the knock that becomes a tick is--and is it just from normal wear. Also, whats the realistic life expectancy on this motor? I do 30k a year. Never had a tranny or rear issue. front end rock solid. I love this truck! I owned an f-250 which i bought new and it was a piece of crap. I WILL NEVER BY FORD__EVER AGAIN!!!! The list of hell with the truck and dealer is as long as my arm--same goes for the used ford dually i owned.

A quart in 400 miles?!! Time to get rid of that one (or put a motor in it). Methinks it isn't worth a new motor.

Yeah you'd be replacing the oil before you even hit your oil change interval just by topping it up.

Maybe OP meant 4000?
