Default 2003 Ram hemi "oil pressure issue"

I have a 2003 5.7 hemi. 104k. Has been running well. On way home from work at start up I noticed the check gauges light, and the oil pressure gauge at 0. Engine sounded slightly higher in tone I suppose. I got home, and checked oil, a bit dirty looking but level was fine. I turned on and off a few times and suddenly the gauge light went out and pressure returned. I noticed the idle smooth out a bit at that point. I drove it to get gas and seems ok, no knocks or anything. What could have caused that? I'm in Minnesota, and it's been very cold lately, could that be a factor?

could just be a bad sensor. Or gauge sticking. Put a direct reading gauge on it.

Goto autozone and get a new oil pressure sending unit. Cost $16. Had the same issue with mine and just chaged it out a month ago. Takes about 10 min to change. Works like a charm now.

First thing to do without fear of wasting your time and money.... Do an oil change. It's possible your filter is clogged. After all, you did say your fluid is dirty so it needs to be changed anyways.

When you change your filter, don't use the orange one. Wix brand is a safe one to use.

X2 on what Dirtydog said. I had the same issue with mine. Mine was a sludge issue though.
(I should've ran some Seafoam thru it before the oil change though.)
