2004 Dodge Ram 1500 stalling at only stops.
Ill start here my 2004 Dodge Ram 1500 4x4 SLT is having issues stalling at stop lights, stop signs, and hard braking. it had started about 3 months ago and it would not stall and kill the engine. Only the rpms would drop to about 500 and then raise back up to regular rpms. then along came transmission problems i ended up having to replace my transmission. i replaced the transmission and the torque converter with a used one from a company that was dealt through my local Chrysler dealership. After two days of the "new"transmission it was fine, until i left work and came to a stop light the truck completely shut off, i put it in park and started it back up.All was fine, two or three days later it happened again i caught it before it stalled completely out and let off the brake so the truck would roll forward the rpms revved back up. and it returned to normal idle. Ive heard so many different "fixes" about this i don't know where to start from electrical, to engine, to transmission, to even brakes and hub sensors even a couple flux capacitors. the truck has 133,XXX miles on it. the "new" transmission has around 50,XXX on it. any help would be greatly appreciated.
A leaking O ring seal on the flat transmission filter can cause this.
Also the use of the incorrect flat filter.
A 4x4 filter has a longer pickup tube than a 2wd.
Make sure both are ok, because if the transmission sucks up air instead of transmission fluid under braking when coming to a stop, she will stall.

I appreciate the advice the guys. I'm Finns start with cleaning the throttle body. It's about time for a new tune up if that fails to fix it ill continue on through the dealership because I need ti have a transmission flush and new filters installed and then onto the computer flash. Ill post up what all happens as soon as I can
a little update on the truck lately. i cleaned out the throttle body (it was extremely dirty) which it did not help any. i then took it to the dealership to ask about the PCM flash they said they had never heard of the problem before but they took it tot he shop and noticed my intake temperature sensor was not plugged all the way in. im almost 100% sure they didnt even look to see if it needed the update on the PCM and the truck continues to stall at red lights more often if its cold and just started up. when its warm and has been running for a while it doesnt hardly ever stall out if it does anything at all it willjust flutter for a second then go back to normal RPMs at idle.
Find a different dealer or mechanic. This problem has been around for awhile, abarmby hit it with the trans filter. Are you getting any codes? Maybe TPS going bad?

its not throwing any codes at all. I'm gonna calla round to all the dealerships around the area. It very well could be the transmission filter, the only thing making me doubt that would be the fact is was doing this before i put the "new" used transmission in. but then again both of the trans could easily have had the same problem. once again ill keep this updated as i go along.

Does the engine stall if you put it in neutral when coming to a stop?
If I put mine in neutral before I come to a stop it does not stall.
