Default Engine swap

Hello

My first post

I have found a 8/08 Dodge RAM 2500 here in Oz that was imported as spares and never registered, and cannot ever be registered I'm told.

The 5.9L motor appears to be AOK.

My question is (forgive my terminology)

If I take this motor and put it in an earlier truck, what will I have to do computer wise?

Are there two "black boxes" , a body module (ABS, Air bags etc) box and a seperate "black box" for engine management?

If there are two boxes, can the engine be used without the body module.

If there is one box, will I be successfull if there is no ABS, Air bags etc.

Hope I'm clear enough.

Regards

So you want to swap a Cummins diesel into an earlier truck? Is the earlier truck a diesel, just with a blown engine? Is a heavy duty as well? What are you trying to put it in?

Thank you for replying HemiLonestar.

Everything else is in order as far as suitability is concerned.

The only uncertainty is whether the engine management and body module are seperate units or a single unit and will the engine management function if the body module is not there or has nothing to control ie no ABS, Air bag etc.

Good luck.
