Overhead console computer

I have a 2004 RAM 3500 with a 5.9 Cummins. Today I noticed that every time I started the truck the MPG and ET would reset to zero on the overhead console readout (without me hitting reset). I have never noticed this before. Has it always been this way and I never noticed? Not sure if I need a sanity check. Interested in how other people's overhead readout works. Thanks for any input.
