Default cold start whine noise

When starting 06 Ram 1500 5.7 when cold has anyone ever experienced a whining noise? Does not seem to be a belt. It is a slight whine that goes away quite fast. I am wondering water pump, tensioner or alternator?

Could be the starter just being cold. If you have a garage, try putting a space heater under it a few hours before you start it. See if the noise is still there.

Power steering pump (most likely), alternator (maybe). Not likely the starter (at least not from cold).
